With the Broadwood square piano from 1829 acquired by the Joseph Woelfl Society Bonn e. V. for the Joseph Woelfl House, the Woelfl House has a historical instrument of distinction that will be used regularly in concerts, but can also be presented as a contemporary instrument in the future Woelfl Museum. The internationally renowned Canadian fortepiano specialist Anders Muskens will play a selection of Woelfl's later compositions on the newly restored square piano, which are mentioned in individual contributions to the newly published Joseph Woelfl Almanac 2020/2021.
Dr Ingrid Bodsch, scientific curator of the Joseph Woelfl Society Bonn and responsible for the conception and realisation of the future Woelfl Museum in the Woelfl House in Bonn, will present the Broadwood Square Piano from 1829 in a short lecture and shed light on the important role of table pianos in 19th century musical practice.
